Should Athletes Be Made To Choose Between Pain And Their Career?

01/29/2018

It is no secret how athletes develop an addiction to either opioids or marijuana along the process of dealing with pain. With all the training, practice, and injuries, it is next to impossible for athletes to stay clean all their life.

I think this is a topic worth discussing especially after I listened to the latest episode of one of the cannabis health radio called c-life radio. The show is hosted by 3 people, Arby, Scheril, and Leon. This is one of the most interactive shows that come up with CBD live stories involving special guests, audience, and the pioneers of the industry.

In the episode I am talking about, Treyous Jarrells, a former NCCA football player attended the show sharing his experience of how such strenuous sports can distract you from your goal because of the pain. The pain came in between his dreams and he quit from the team after brooding over the fact that whether he'll be able to stay clean and play.

He realized that the pain was too much and his marijuana use for his pain could cost him his scholarship to the Colorado state. Since then he is a well-known face as a cannabis advocate. Jarrells has been educating people about cannabis, its life-changing benefits, and how it can turn-around the lives of athletes.

I Don't Think Athletes Should Be Made To Choose Between Pain And Their Career

Especially when there are options such as medical marijuana, it is just cruel to force the professional athletes to leave their game. If everyone is entitled to have medical marijuana treatment for chronic pain in the states allowing medical use of marijuana, why not athletes?

With controlled quantities of marijuana usage, I think the athletes will not only be doing what they are out there to do which is perform but we'll be making them free from the chains of different addictions which threaten their image and wellness, both.

There are many CBD talk podcasts which discuss the legal battle for making medical marijuana federally legal. I think if people would listen to these radio shows and grasp as much cannabis information as possible then the initiative of legalizing marijuana for medical purposes may reach its final destination after a few years. Because, athletes should be on their field instead of advocating treatments for their pain but sadly, we are not united enough to make this happen!
